Most movie genres are cliche though, every rom com is the same, every teen movie is the same, every horror movie has the standard boob shot etc. Generally they are love stories or coming of age stories or a mix of both and its because these things define them as gay movies, with out these things they just because movies with gay characters and they dont work out so well.
